The Cove apartment development in North Fremantle has reached practical completion for our client Blackburne Property Group.  Designed and constructed by DMG, the 26 private apartments capture stunning river, port and ocean views and offers a simple, yet bold design, that incredibly blends in to the neighbouring community.

There are no small apartments in this development, which has two, three and four bedroom apartments with oversized balconies and terraces.  Several apartments provide a delightful surprise with their front door opening onto a large open courtyard rather than directly into the apartment itself.

Incorporating an innovative rooftop terrace, the design DMG has used for The Cove apartments is a modern contemporary aesthetic with very clean lines, flat planes, simple materials and large amounts of glass to enhance the stunning views and natural light coming into the apartment.

The significantly detailed luxury interior design begins with a complex lobby design which has a two storey void and creatively integrates a timber wall batten, rag rolled and feature wall paint, textured wallpaper over inlaid recessed LED lighting.  Travertine floor and wall tiles flow seamlessly throughout the lobby spaces into the apartments.

Since inception of this project, the structural design was heavily influenced by DMG Construction Team’s feedback to DMG Architects.  The feedback focussed on constructability, the work program and budget considerations.  Several site challenges were highlighted enabling the architectural team to make time and cost saving adjustments prior to construction.

The construction team also encouraged the use of newer construction materials, which allowed a faster, more flexible build and lowered storage costs for the client.

Sustainable design initiatives and the latest technology enhance the environmental protection and management with a smart irrigation system that draws from roof collected rainwater, a northward facing orientation for best passive solar advantage, solar roof panels to reduce electricity costs and performance glass to minimise heat and external noise.

In order to keep strata levies to a minimum for the apartment owners, the surrounding amenities far outweighed the need for pools, gyms or yoga rooms.

Our relationship with Blackburne Property Group continues with repeat business and other recent apartment projects ‘Oracle’, Perth and ‘Azure’, Rockingham.
